About compounded medications
Compounded medications, if prescribed, are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are marketed. Compounded medications are prepared by a state-licensed compounding pharmacy specifically for the individual patient. Compounded medications are not the same as, are not equivalent to, and are not interchangeable with FDA-approved brand-name medications. Melbi does not compare its options to branded medications. Treatment options depend on clinical appropriateness, medication availability, and applicable law.
